What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Work with a development team to understand the product and its documentation requirements.
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities.
  • Create and maintain the information architecture.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help, and developer guides.
  • Create tutorials to help end-users learn applications

We Expect You To Have:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a technical writer, editor, content strategist, or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience writing API documentation and testing APIs.
  • Experience with image creation using applications such as GIMP and Visio.
  • Proven working experience in writing software documentation and managing content, including coordinating with and bridging between other teams.
  • Experience with text markup in Docbook XML, HTML/CSS, or SGML
  • Analytical thinker with an ability to identify and solve problems in a logical manner.
  • Highly adaptable, able to make decisions on incomplete information and manage multiple processes simultaneously.
  • High personal code/development standards (peer testing, unit testing, documentation, etc.)
  • Ability to gather information from disparate sources, grasp complex technical concepts and translate them to easily understandable content for audiences of varying technical expertise.
  • Familiarity with the software development life cycle and methods such as Agile, Scrum, and Kanban
  • Experience developing an information architecture for end-user documentation.
  • Experience with single source/multi-output documentation tools such as Madcap Flare or Paligo (Paligo preferred)
  • Working with developer tools such as MS Visual Studio, Emacs, git, and make (nice to have)
