Etech to Open Call Center in Pasadena, TX.

May 15, 2007

Nacogdoches, TX, May 15, 2007: Etech a global business process outsourcer, has announced plans to expand their Texas operations to include a third center in the Pasadena, Texas market.

Etech entered the East Texas Labor Market in 1997. As Berry Direct, they started as a small subsidiary of BellSouth with approximately 25 employees. Today, Etech is a privately owned, global organization that is a major employer in the East Texas market and in India. Etech employs just over 1,500 team members throughout their four call centers in Nacogdoches, TX, Lufkin, TX, Gandhinagar, India and Vadodara, India.

According to Matt Rocco, Chief Operating Officer, “We are excited to announce these expansion plans. The city of Pasadena has been wonderful to work with and we feel that they will be able to provide the labor market to meet the demands of our customers.” Rocco stated, “The fastest growing minority group in the US is Hispanic. Presently, they spend about $700 billion dollars annually and are expected to surge to over $1 trillion per year by 2010. Our Fortune 100 customers continue to seek call center partners who have access to bilingual skills within their labor markets. We feel that Pasadena will give us this talent.”

In August of 2006, Etech teamed up with Governor Rick Perry’s economic development office to release a RFP to target Texas communities that would be able to provide labor to staff the bilingual phone representatives that Etech was seeking. After reviewing the 20+ responses to the RFP and conducting numerous site visits to multiple Texas communities, Etech selected the city of Pasadena to stage their next center.

“Many of the customer service jobs that we provide are part time and night time / Saturday positions. College students are a perfect fit for many of these jobs. It has always been a priority of Etech to develop good relationships with the local colleges and universities. One benefit we offer to working students is tuition reimbursement.” stated Rocco. “Since 2002, Etech has paid its student employees over $500,000 in reimbursement for college tuition. We have already begun to develop a strong working relationship with San Jacinto College in Pasadena. We will be using some of their classroom space for training and initial calling while our permanent site is being finalized and prepared for operations.”

Etech expects to open for operation in June of 2007 and will eventually grow to 500+ positions in Pasadena.
